Data erasure product certifications aren’t easy to achieve. That’s why WipeOS is proud to partner with Ontrack, one of the world leaders in data erasure and data recovery. By its very definition, product certification endorses our product’s effectiveness by subjecting it to independently-validated quality and performance tests. It is the strongest possible indicator of the quality of the product and the environment in which it’s developed.
WipeOS permanently removes data from IT assets such as PCs, servers, data

With WipeOS software you can be confident in achieving full NIST sanitization for all your storage media.
With NIST certification WipeOS offers permanent and complete data sanitization services which meet the most secure erasure algorithm standards, including NIST 800-88 Rev 1 on both magnetic and flash-based media.

Wallencore Laboratory has been working with WipeOS to determine our exposure to the new rules in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In order to achieve this, an observational method assessment was performed to demonstrate required queries from Wallencore Laboratory.
Based on the affirmative results conducted from assessment, the Attestation Certificate was issued to WipeOS from Wallencore Laboratory.

WipeOS is pleased to announce that it has taken all necessary steps to achieve compliance and receive the HIPAA Seal of Compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). This seal assures WipeOS customers that all security risks have been assessed and WipeOS has established and implemented the necessary policies and procedures to ensure meeting the strict HIPPA Privacy Security and Breach Notification rules.

Data Wiping vs Data Erasure
Ask most people on the street what the difference is between data wiping and data erasure, and you will most likely receive a blank stare or a shoulder roll. But in the world of data security, the differences can be legally significant.
Both data wiping and data erasure are methods that are commonly used to delete data from storage drives such as physical hard drives, solid-state drives, USB drives, and/or memory cards.
v2.4.10 End of Life
Effective March 31st 2023 we will no longer support version 2.4.10 and older. Beginning April 1st, 2023, WipeOS will only support version 2.4.11 and greater. If you are at software version 2.4.11 or greater there is no need to upgrade.
DoD or NIST?
It’s funny that client’s are still requesting a three-pass wipe (DoD wipe) of their hard drives because they believe that a 3-pass wipe must be better than a 1-pass. The thought was that if it was good enough for the Department of Defense, it must be the best solution.

Erasure and Testing
WipeOS was founded to provide a reliable solution that adds value for technology professionals. We want to ensure data-containing devices are properly wipes, tested, and accounted for. We also want to help our community of successful WipeOS users develop the most reliable and efficient process possible.
Tablets
WipeOS has been a great tool for restoring all types of tablets and iPads. The process is very similar to that of wiping and inventorying laptops, desktops and servers. Simply connect your device using dockstations or USB hubs and let WipeOS do the rest.
M.2 NVMe Drives
WipeOS was one of the first to unlock the latest M.2 NVMe SSD devices. These Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) is an open, logical-device interface specification for accessing a computer’s non-volatile storage media usually attached via PCI Express bus. These are Solid State storage devices, which do not use the ATA or SAS protocols. They speak directly over PCI, no translation needed. This leads to much higher speeds and bandwidth.
SAS and SATA drives
WipeOS supports all of the most common storage devices. Two that we see very often are the SATA and SAS drives.
